PN Bandung Refuses Pre-trial of Deputy Mayor Erwin, Status of Suspect is Valid

BANDUNG - The Bandung District Court rejected the pretrial application filed by Bandung Deputy Mayor Erwin regarding his designation as a suspect by the Bandung City District Attorney's Office in the alleged corruption case.

"To judge, declare the applicant's pretrial application to be rejected in its entirety," said Chief Justice Agus Komarudin when reading the verdict at the Bandung District Court, West Java, Monday, January 12, reported by ANTARA.

The judge stated that the determination of Erwin as a suspect by the Bandung City Prosecutor's Office had been carried out in accordance with the applicable legal procedures and was not legally flawed, as alleged by the applicant.

In his consideration, the judge said that the Bandung City Kejari investigators had conducted a complete series of investigations before designating Erwin as a suspect.

"The defendant has examined and heard the testimony of four witnesses, one expert, and carried out searches and seizures that have obtained court approval," said the judge.

In addition, the Bandung City Prosecutor's Office has also conducted digital forensic tests on evidence obtained in the investigation process.

"Based on this series, the defendant concluded that there was sufficient evidence to establish the suspects on behalf of Erwin and Rendiana Awangga," he said.

With the completion of at least two valid evidence, the judge stated that the action of determining the suspect was in accordance with the provisions of the criminal procedure law.

Previously, the Bandung City Prosecutor's Office named Bandung Deputy Mayor Erwin as a suspect in a corruption case related to the abuse of authority in the Bandung City Government in 2025.
