25 Years Together, BoA Ends Contract with SM Entertainment

JAKARTA - Singer BoA has officially ended her exclusive contract with SM Entertainment after 25 years. The agency announced their parting news which ends from the end of 2025.

"After having in-depth discussions with BoA, we have agreed to end 25 years of togetherness by December 31, 2025," SM Entertainment said on Monday, January 12.

"Debuting in 2000 at the age of 13, now passing 25 years since his debut, he is loved globally as a global expansion icon who pioneered the Korean Wave in Asia and became an Asian star and a model for his juniors," he said.

In its statement, SM Entertainment will support BoA's future steps. They also look forward to her various activities in the future.

"Even though our exclusive contract has ended, we will support BoA as she displays her capabilities in various activities and we hope she can shine even more as a Star of Asia," the agency said.

On the same day, SM Entertainment released a tribute video containing BoA's 25-year journey with SM Entertainment.

BoA also uploaded her latest photo with a plaque in the shape of her name that was sent by the agency. She thanked the agency in her upload.

"Giving and receiving without holding it in, I'm leaving without regret. I'm grateful for the time we shared and will continue to support SM Entertainment to shine. Thank you," BoA wrote.

BoA is one of the Korean solo singers who formed the Korean Wave in Asia. He is also the first Korean artist to break into the Japanese music industry, which is known to be closed.

He last starred in the drama Marry My Husband and released his latest album titled Crazier in 2025.
