Istana: Not Only SR, the Government Renovates 60,000 Schools in 2026
JAKARTA - The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi explained that the government was not only focusing on the development of People's Schools (SR), because the government also targeted renovating at least 60,000 school buildings by 2026.
Prasetyo emphasized that the government is also continuing to strive to improve the welfare of teachers, and to equip schools with cutting-edge teaching and learning equipment, namely by sending interactive whiteboards (IFP) to schools in various regions of Indonesia.
"At the beginning of the People's School idea, many parties doubted it, but we continue to try, because we believe on the one hand, we continue to improve normal schools. This year, we target to renovate at least 60,000 schools," said Prasetyo as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 12.
"We also continue to improve teachers (their well-being, ed.). Learning facilities are also being improved, one of which is by distributing interactive (flat) panels to all schools," continued Prasetyo.
Pras - the nickname for Prasetyo, explained that in 2025 the government had distributed smart whiteboards to 288,000 schools in various regions of Indonesia.
Meanwhile, regarding the construction of People's Schools, Pras emphasized that SR is one of the government's strategies to break the chain of poverty.
"We have to think boldly, and think out of the box to break the chain of poverty. We can't wait. That's why we dare to realize this People's School, and today, in Banjarbaru, we take advantage of the facilities from the Ministry of Social Affairs that we have, which are now operational in 166 schools," said Pras.
Pras said the government in 2026 targets to build People's Schools in 104 locations.
"Please pray for his rest, so that this year we will build in 104 points, the ideal People's School so that the construction process will run smoothly, and will accommodate more of our younger siblings who can get an education," said Pras.
