Pelindo Speaks Out on Flooding at Tanjung Priok Port

JAKARTA - Executive General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok, Yandri Tri Saputra, explained the flooding that hit the Tanjung Priok Port container terminal, North Jakarta, today, Monday, January 12, 2026.

According to Yandri, all port activities, including loading and unloading and terminal services, continue to run normally and smoothly.

Based on field monitoring, flooding and flooding did occur on a number of roads leading to the Tanjung Priok Port area, North Jakarta.

However, Yandri said that until now the conditions inside the port's operational area remained under control.

"Users of port services should always pay attention to the latest weather information and traffic information and prioritize safety in every operational activity," said Yandri in a statement received by VOI, Monday, January 12, afternoon.

Yandri also appealed to ship and terminal operators to increase vigilance against the potential increase in wind and waves.

"All port employees must continue to comply with work safety procedures and be alert to weather changes that may occur at any time," he said.

Yandri also apologized for the delay in services due to bad weather conditions.

"We apologize for the delayed service due to the current weather conditions. We continue to coordinate intensively with BMKG, KSOP, Bea & Cukai, Pelabuhan Police and other related parties to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the port because safety and smooth service are the main priorities," he said.

Based on official data from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the maritime weather conditions in the Jakarta Bay area on January 12-15, 2026 are expected to be dominated by westerly to northwesterly winds with speeds ranging from 8-14 knots, accompanied by potential wind gusts (wind gusts) up to 27 knots at certain times.

Significant wave heights are estimated to be in the range of 0.5 to 1.4 meters, which has the potential to affect ship and loading activities.

Previously reported, the area of the Container Terminal at the Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta, was also submerged in floodwaters on Monday, January 12, 2026.
