Hundreds of TPU Kebon Nanas Residents Evacuated to Rusunawa

JAKARTA - Hundreds of joint personnel were deployed to help the process of moving residents from the Kebon Nanas Public Cemetery (TPU), Jatinegara, East Jakarta, to a number of simple rental apartment buildings (rusunawa).

"We have deployed 400 Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling Officers (PPSU) to help residents who will move to the apartment," said Jatinegara Sub-district Head Endang Kartika at Kebon Nanas TPU, East Jakarta, Monday.

The relocation was carried out gradually and was targeted to be completed today because it was the final limit of the relocation. In total, there were 40 families with 235 people who were relocated from Kebon Nanas TPU.

In addition to personnel, as many as 26 large trucks, seven operational service vehicles (KDO), 10 school buses, and 10 village-level vehicles were also deployed to transport residents and their belongings.

"Today is complete, only the implementation is gradual because the residents are very enthusiastic. However, we ensure that everything is completed today," said Endang.

The relocation process involves elements of Jatinegara District, Cipinang Besar Selatan Village, as well as PPSU officers and Other Personal Service Providers (PJLP) Pertamanan.

According to Endang, all the joint personnel helped the residents, ranging from packaging and transporting goods, to ensuring that the relocation process was orderly and smooth.

The presence of hundreds of officers is also aimed at anticipating the accumulation of residents given the high enthusiasm of the community who will occupy the new residence.

The relocated residents will occupy a number of flats scattered in various areas of Jakarta, including Pulogebang Flats, Cipinang Besar Selatan, Cipinang Muara, Jatinegara Kaum, Pondok Bambu, Pulojahe, to Small Industrial Village Flats (PIK). Meanwhile, residents who are still bachelor status are transferred to PIK Flats.

"There are several flats that have been prepared for the relocation of residents, there is a division," said Endang.

He explained that although the relocation process was carried out gradually, all residents who were recorded were confirmed to be relocated today.

The relocation is part of the effort to arrange the Kebon Nanas TPU area to match its allocation.

Endang also hopes that the relocation to the rusunawa can provide more decent, safe, and comfortable housing for residents, as well as create a more orderly and well-maintained TPU environment.

Previously, the East Jakarta City Government had given a relocation deadline of January 12, 2026.

It is estimated that from a total of around 3,700 square meters of land occupied by residents, the government can build approximately 1,000 new tomb plots.

Most residents are recorded as having occupied the Kebon Nanas TPU area for 15 to 20 years. For residents with DKI KTP, the government provides replacement housing in a number of apartment buildings owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
