When K-pop Music is Used as a Fun Wedding Music

JAKARTA - The trend of South Korean popular music, or K-pop, is not only dominating the global music charts, but is also beginning to penetrate the healthy habits of urban people in Jakarta.

This phenomenon was clearly captured in Holywings Peduli's latest initiative which held a sports activity titled Korean Dance at Helen's Night Mart Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta, last weekend.

This step is an alternative to modern sports that combines energetic dance movements with energetic K-pop music, thus sparking people's interest to stay active without feeling burdened by monotonous physical routines.

Participants from various age ranges seemed to crowd the area with high enthusiasm since the activity began. With dynamic choreography, participants were guided by instructors to move all body parts to the rhythmic beats of the hits of the Gingseng State.

Medically, this Korean Dance activity does offer a myriad of benefits for physical health, ranging from maintaining heart (cardiovascular) fitness, training motor coordination, to improving flexibility and body balance.

The fast rhythm is also a means of effectively burning calories to maintain ideal body weight in the midst of an urban lifestyle that tends to be sedentary.

Apart from physical benefits, mental health aspects are also the main focus of this activity. One of the participants, Rina, admitted that she really enjoyed the Korean Dance activity organized by Holywings Peduli.

"This sport is exciting and not boring. In addition to the body being more sweaty, the atmosphere is also fun because it is done together with the accompaniment of K-Pop music," he said.

The same was conveyed by Hanna, who felt more excited because the song used was very familiar in the ears. The collective experience and cheerful music accompaniment proved to be able to reduce stress levels and increase the happiness hormone of participants.

Andrew Susanto, President Commissioner of Holywings Group and Head of the Holywings Peduli CSR Program, emphasized that this healthy lifestyle campaign is a relevant approach to current trends.

"We want to invite people to exercise in a fun and contemporary way. Korean Dance is the choice because the benefits are complete, both for physical and mental health," he said.

The excitement of the event did not stop at the gymnastics session alone. The entertainment titled 'Pesta Rakyat' was also presented for local residents. Various races such as the chopsticks throwing game with prizes for mobile phones and groceries, glass relay, to karaoke competitions are a magnet for residents.

Through the integration of creative sports and social awareness, this event is expected to be able to change the stigma that sports do not have to be rigid, while proving that K-pop music can be a positive catalyst for the health of the wider community.
