Papua's International Trade Tax Hits 558.9 Percent in 2025

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Treasury (DJPb) of Papua Province said that the receipt of international trade taxes in the Papua region recorded a significant increase of 558.9 percent or reached Rp. 5.83 trillion from the State Budget (APBN) target for 2025.

Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury of Papua Province, Izharul Haq, said that the surge in revenue was mainly supported by the contribution of exit fees from the export activities of flagship commodities, especially from Mimika Regency, Central Papua.

"The positive performance of international trade taxes shows the strategic role of the export sector in supporting state revenues in the Papua region, amid ongoing global economic challenges," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, January 12.

According to Izharul, in addition to this, this increase in revenue also reflects commodity prices and increased export volumes from the eastern region of Indonesia.

"International trade taxes are one of the main pillars of state revenue in Papua throughout 2025," he said.

He explained that this achievement also contributed significantly to the total state revenue in Papua which, as of the end of November 2025, had exceeded the annual target.

In the future, his party will also encourage the optimization of tax potential through strengthening supervision, improving tax services, and synergy with local governments to support sustainable development in Papua.

"We will continue to coordinate with related agencies to maintain the sustainability of state revenue, while ensuring taxpayer compliance in the international trade sector," he concluded.
