44 Jakarta Roads Flooded This Afternoon

JAKARTA - Jakarta is still experiencing heavy rain as of this afternoon. The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded that the number of flooded roads had increased to 44 as of 12:00 PM Western Indonesian Time. Furthermore, dozens of neighborhood units (RT) in Jakarta were also flooded.

"The heavy rains that have hit Jakarta and its surrounding areas have caused several flooding events in the Jakarta area," said M. Yohan, Head of the Jakarta BPBD Data Center, in a statement on Monday, January 12.

The list of flooded roads is as follows:

"The water level on 44 roads reached 10 to 50 centimeters. This was caused by heavy rainfall," said Yohan.

Meanwhile, 28 neighborhood units (RTs) in South Jakarta and North Jakarta were flooded as of 12:00 PM WIB. The following are the details:

1. West Jakarta: 6 RTs:

- Kedaung Kali Angke Subdistrict: 3 RTs

Water Level: 70 cm

Cause: High rainfall

- Rawa Buaya Subdistrict: 3 RTs

Water Level: 50 cm

Cause: High rainfall

2. South Jakarta: 19 RTs:

- Cilandak Barat Subdistrict: 1 RT

Water Level: 40 cm

Cause: High rainfall and overflowing Krukut River

- Pondok Labu: 2 neighborhood units

Elevation: 80 cm

Cause: High rainfall and overflowing Krukut River

- North Cipete Village: 3 neighborhood units

Elevation: 70 cm

Cause: High rainfall and overflowing Krukut River

- Pela Mampang Village: 9 neighborhood units

Elevation: 50 cm

- Duren Tiga Village: 1 neighborhood unit

Cause: Heavy rainfall

Currently, the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) is deploying personnel to monitor flooding conditions in each area and coordinating with the Water Resources Agency, the Public Works Agency, and the Fire and Rescue Agency to de-flood the floodwaters and ensure the water channels are functioning properly, along with local village heads and sub-district heads, as well as preparing basic necessities for survivors.

"The floodwaters are targeted to recede quickly. The Jakarta BPBD urges the public to remain cautious and alert to potential flooding," he said.
