The Bionic Vision System That May Be The Hope Of The Blind

JAKARTA - A bio-electronics company, Pixiumk Vision SA has developed an innovation that allows blind people to have vision. The technology is called the Bionic Vision System.

The technology introduces a bionic vision system called the Prima System. This system is different from most visual aids in general.

Prima System will replace some of the physiological functions of the eye photoreceptor cells. This system electrically stimulates the inner retinal nerve cells.

According to the company's website, the Prima System is designed to help people with blindness and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Later the sufferers can see things without the need to repeatedly change their sight.

Later any visual information will be sent to the brain via the optic nerve. The capability and performance of this system has been proven by a feasibility study in France. According to the study's data, the system showed changes in the visual function of people with AMD.

AMD itself is a visual impairment experienced by a person along with age. This disorder can lead to complications and cause blindness for sufferers.

More about Prima System, this system is designed as Bionic Vision System in the future. The goal is to help and overcome visual disturbances in order to improve the quality of life for the blind.

The company was awarded The Best Product/Deal at the HealthTech Award 2020 for its innovation regarding the Bionic Vision System. At the MedTech 2021 forum, the company was recognized as the most advanced innovator of next-generation technology for healthcare in Europe.
