SAR Palu Helps Process the Evacuation of Residents Affected by Flooding in Wani Donggala
PALU - The Palu SAR Office, Central Sulawesi (Sulteng), deployed a team to help the process of evacuating residents and valuables in Wani Village, Donggala Regency, which was affected by flooding.
"We sent a SAR team assisted by potential elements and other potential SAR to evacuate residents to a safe place," said Head of the Palu SAR Office Muh Rizal in Palu, Antara, Sunday, January 11.
He explained that the SAR operation involved the TNI/Polri, village officials, and local people, to help move people's belongings that were flooded.
Before carrying out the activity, his party coordinated with the local village government to conduct field assessments, in addition to carrying out the evacuation process.
"From the report we received, there were no casualties," he said.
It was reported that heavy rain hit Donggala and its surrounding areas on Sunday (11/1) at around 11.00 Wita, causing river water in Wani Village, Tanantovea District.
At around 15.20 Wita, the joint SAR team carried out evacuation operations and the process was carried out until the afternoon.
From the information obtained by his party, around 16 heads of households (KK) were affected, including one house affected and three houses of residents were swept away by the flood and there was a bridge connecting the village that was cut off.
"After all of them were declared safe, the SAR operation to evacuate residents was declared complete. As for the supporting equipment we brought, namely rubber boats, water SAR equipment, communication equipment, medical equipment and evacuation equipment," said Rizal.
He also asked residents to remain vigilant, because the current weather conditions are uncertain, especially residents who live on the banks of rivers.
"Residents need to maintain the government's appeal, always update information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on their official social media channels," he said.
The temporary data of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of South Sulawesi, around 10 villages in two sub-districts in Donggala Regency were affected by flooding.
The affected areas are Wani 1, Wani 2, Wani 3, and Wani Lumbumpetigo Villages, Tanantovea District, then Amal Village, Dusun Maliko, Toaya, Kumbasa, Enu, Lero, and Sumari Villages, Sindue District.
