Megawati's 'Spirit of Humanity' book launched at PDIP National Conference

JAKARTA - The PDI-P DPP through the Disaster Management Agency (Baguna) launched a book entitled Spirit of Humanity: Disaster Risk Management ala Megawati Soekarnoputri in the series of the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) I PDIP 2026.

The launch of the book was witnessed directly by the Chairperson of the PDIP DPP Megawati Soekarnoputri at the Beach City International Stadium (BCIS), Ancol, North Jakarta.

Megawati was accompanied by her sons, the Chairman of the PDIP DPP for Creative Economy M. Prananda Prabowo and the Chairman of the PDIP DPP and Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani.

A number of PDIP DPP managers were also present, including PDIP General Treasurer Olly Dondokambey, Tri Rismaharini, Ribka Tjiptaning, Charles Honoris, and Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok.

Secretary General of the PDIP DPP Hasto Kristiyanto who acted as moderator said that the book recorded Megawati's approach to disaster and environmental issues, which have long been a serious concern for the party.

"The book 'Spirit of Humanity' describes Ibu Megawati Soekarnoputri's disaster mitigation management and her great attention to various movements to protect the environment and the earth," said Hasto, Sunday, January 11.

According to Hasto, the launch of this book is inseparable from the context of humanitarian action that is being carried out by PDIP. Currently, the party through Baguna is operating the Laksamana Malahayati Hospital Ship for post-flood disaster treatment and recovery missions in Aceh and a number of areas in Sumatra.

Before the book launch session, the Chairman of the PDIP DPP for Health, Ribka Tjiptaning, reported on the development of humanitarian activities carried out by the party in disaster-affected areas. He said PDIP had been moving in three provinces since the beginning of December.

"We have been moving since December 5. We have sent health teams to West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and Aceh," said Ribka.

Ribka explained that the medical team deployed came from various backgrounds, including doctors of diaspora graduates from China, Cuba, and Ireland, as well as domestic medical personnel from the Faculty of Medicine of the Indonesian Christian University (FK UKI) and the Royal Prima Medan Hospital.

In addition to medical personnel, PDIP also sent logistical support in the form of ambulances and supporting vehicles. The distribution was carried out towards the end of December 2025.

"On December 29, PDIP also sent 30 ambulances which were divided into three provinces, plus one tanker and one special command car for Aceh," he said.

He added that activities in the field were not only in the form of medical services, but also psychosocial and logistical support for affected residents. These activities are carried out every day with difficult terrain conditions.

"Every day we do free treatment, trauma healing, and a communal kitchen. I just arrived last night because I wanted to receive a medal from Ibu. We even traveled 30 hours by land for this humanitarian task," said Ribka.
