Begal Bersenpi Squad Who Shot Residents in Palmerah Arrested by Police
JAKARTA - Police have uncovered a gang of armed robbers who shot a resident while acting in the Palmerah area, West Jakarta. The perpetrators were successfully identified thanks to the victim's and witnesses' statements at the scene.
Director of Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin, said that the joint team of Jatanras Polda Metro Jaya and Jatanras Polda DIY managed to arrest the two main perpetrators with the initials VV and RC.
"The joint team of Jatanras Polda Metro Jaya and Jatanras Polda DIY managed to uncover the perpetrators of the robbery and shooting of a resident in Palmerah, West Jakarta," said Iman in his statement, Sunday, January 11, 2026.
The perpetrator VV was arrested at a hotel in the Gondokusuman area, Yogyakarta, on Friday, January 9, 2026. Meanwhile, RC was arrested in Cimahi, West Java, on Saturday, January 10, 2026. The two were immediately taken to the General Sub-Directorate of Jatanras Polda Metro Jaya for further examination.
Iman said that in the disclosure of this case, VV was known to play the role of a jockey and an executor of the shooting, while RC was in charge of picking up the motorcycle.
"VV fired three times at the victim, while RC took the victim's motorcycle," he said.
From the hands of the perpetrators, said Iman, the police confiscated two homemade firearms, 12 bullets, a set of letter T keys and 15 keys, seven motorbikes from crimes, clothes used during the action, and CCTV footage.
Iman explained that this gang was recorded for carrying out four acts of robbery in one day in the West Jakarta and East Jakarta areas. One of the actions took place on Jalan Andong II, South Bamboo City, Palmerah, on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
"In the morning the perpetrator went around on a motorcycle to look for parked vehicles. When he found the target, the perpetrator damaged the lock hole using a letter T key," he said.
Iman explained that when the incident occurred, the victim who was inside the house heard the sound of his motorcycle turning on. When he came out, the motorcycle had been taken away by the perpetrator. The victim and residents had chased after and tried to detain the perpetrator.
However, one of the perpetrators actually took out a homemade firearm and shot at the residents three times. As a result, the victim was shot in the leg.
"The perpetrator rebelled and tried to escape by firing a gun at the witness who helped the victim, so the victim was injured in the leg," he said.
Not only acting in Palmerah, this gang also committed motor vehicle theft in the Tomang, Tanjung Duren, and Duren Sawit areas, with a similar modus operandi, namely breaking into parked motorcycles using a T-shaped key.
"For their actions, the perpetrators were charged with Article 479 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 468 of the Criminal Code. Currently, the suspects have been secured at the General Sub-Directorate of Jatanras Polda Metro Jaya for further investigation," he said. *
