Toyota Officially Introduces the Latest Generation Hilux in Europe at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show

JAKARTA - The latest generation of Toyota Hilux has finally landed in Europe which debuted at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show, which took place from January 9-18 at Brussels Expo. The ninth generation of Toyota's legendary pickup truck will open a new chapter with a lineup that includes its first battery electric powertrain.

Referring to the official statement quoted, Sunday, January 11, the introduction of the latest Hilux is built on a legacy that has been built for more than half a century and more than 27 million global sales. Throughout its history, Hilux's success is based on its quality, durability, and reliability which remain the core of its latest evolution.

In Europe, the new model will be offered with two electrification powertrains. The first is a 2.8-liter diesel engine supported by a 48V hybrid system, an option that will be the best-selling in Europe and the battery electric version, both of which will be exhibited in Brussels. In certain markets, diesel and gasoline combustion engines will also be available.

In line with customer preferences, the latest Hilux will be offered exclusively in a double cabin format, providing a comfortable combination of load carrying ability and practical performance for business, as well as a comfortable and complete cabin, along with Toyota T-Mate's comprehensive active safety and driving assistance features.

The new sharp exterior design exudes fundamental strength and a tough contemporary look. Behind the look, the pickup maintains the body-on-frame construction concept that has been the foundation of exceptional off-road performance in previous generations.

For the hybrid version, the latest Hilux adopts the 48V Hybrid system introduced in the previous model earlier this year. The 2.8-liter diesel engine is supported by a 48V lithium ion battery, providing quieter, smoother performance and better quality that is very noticeable when starting to move and when accelerating.

Meanwhile, the Hilux BEV uses a 59.2 kWh lithium-ion battery and front and rear eAxles to ensure permanent all-wheel drive. This system produces 205 Nm of torque on the front axle and 268 Nm on the rear axle, with a range of up to 380 km in the city cycle.

Toyota said sales in Britain would start in June, and its guaranteed higher price than the previous model would be announced in the coming months.
