Early Sunday Morning Fire in Tambora, 14 Houses and Conveying Buildings Burned Down

JAKARTA - A fire occurred on Jalan Duri Bangkit, RT 08/RW 09 Jembatan Besi, Tambora, West Jakarta, burning 14 houses and one convection building on Sunday, January 11 morning.

"The total loss is estimated to reach Rp. 1.7 billion," said the Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Isnawa Adji, quoted by Antara, Sunday, January 11.

The fire occurred at around 04.24 WIB. Residents in the area who heard the screams of fire immediately joined hands to put out the fire with makeshift tools.

However, the increasing fire made residents immediately report to the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat).

The fire was reported to have spread to the second floor of a resident's house. Officers immediately moved quickly with related elements until the fire was extinguished and the situation was now declared safe.

"The fire was completely extinguished at around 09.03 WIB after going through the extinguishing and cooling process," he said.

Isnawa ensured that there were no casualties or injuries in the fire incident in the densely populated settlement.

"Alhamdulillah there were no casualties. The affected residents were temporarily evacuated to Mushalla Nurul Yaqin and data collection and cross-agency coordination had been carried out," he said.

Based on the results of the interim assessment, said Isnawa, the cause of the fire was suspected to be due to a short circuit (korsleting) in one of the houses that was on fire.
