The construction of the People's School Phase II in 104 Official Locations Starts This Year

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) officially started the construction of the People's School (SR) Phase II in 104 locations this year.

The construction of SR Phase II is carried out evenly in various regions of Indonesia with location distribution, namely Sumatra Island 26 locations; Java 40 locations; Kalimantan 12 locations; Bali and Nusa Tenggara each 1 location; Sulawesi 16 locations; Maluku Islands 4 locations; and Papua 3 locations.

Each People's School is built permanently on land ranging from 5 to 10 hectares (ha) provided by the local government (Pemda).

The Phase II SR program is designed to accommodate 112,320 students through the provision of 3,744 study groups (rombel), consisting of 1,872 elementary school (SD) rombel, 936 first secondary school (SMP) rombel and 936 high school (SMA) rombel.

Each SR location has a capacity of 1,080 students, with details of 18 rombel (540 students) for elementary schools, 9 rombel (270 students) for junior high schools, and 9 rombel (270 students) for high schools. Thus, there are a total of 36 rombel at each SR location.

The SR building is built with the boarding school concept, namely a dormitory for students for the elementary, middle and high school levels, and is also equipped with modern educational facilities that support the learning process in a comprehensive manner.

Covering technology-based classrooms, skill laboratories, libraries and digital learning centers, healthy canteens and kitchens, student health clinics, as well as sports facilities and extracurricular activity rooms and teachers/companions dormitories.

In addition, it is also equipped with green areas and landscaping designed to create a healthy, safe, and comfortable learning environment.

Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said that as of December 31, 2025, the physical work progress of Phase II of SR has reached more than 3 percent.

"The progress of the physical work of Phase II of SR has reached 3.98 percent, covering early construction work as well as the preparation of basic infrastructure at the construction sites," Dody said in a written statement, Saturday, January 10.

As an effort to ensure that construction is carried out according to safety standards, spatial planning and environmental sustainability, there are a range of readiness criteria fulfillment in the implementation of the Phase II SR construction, including land certificates, certificates of free dispute, documents of Approval of the Use of Space Activities (PKKPR) documents environment (AMDAL / UKL-UPL), (Andalalin and Building Building Approval (PBG).

According to Dody, the construction of SR is a long-term investment for the nation in creating a competitive future generation.

"The construction of this People's School is a tangible form of the government's commitment to building superior human resources. We want to ensure that these educational facilities are built quickly and with quality," he added.
