Free for Flood Victims in Aceh Tamiang, PKS Establishes Motorcycle Workshop
JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has established a free motorcycle workshop for flood victims in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh, which is located at the PKS Humanitarian Assistance Post which is also the Office of the PKS Aceh Tamiang Regional Level Leadership Council.
PKS Secretary General Muhammad Kholid said that the party's volunteers serve the people at the workshop every day. This simple service is expected to have a big impact on people affected by floods.
"With limited human resources and the availability of spare parts that are not as complete as official workshops, volunteers still try their best," said Kholid in a statement received in Jakarta, Saturday.
Meanwhile, Khalid on Friday (9/1) visited the PKS Humanitarian Assistance Post in Aceh Tamiang. During the visit, he saw firsthand the efforts of humanitarian volunteers from his party to help affected people.
"Every day, this workshop is able to handle about five citizen motorbikes, with repair times that vary according to the level of damage," he said.
Volunteers help turn on a local resident's motorcycle that had previously died due to being submerged in floodwaters. This is considered important considering the meaning of a motorcycle that is not just a means of transportation, but also a means of meeting post-disaster living needs.
Kholid appreciated the creativity of volunteers in providing assistance to affected people with the presence of the free motorcycle workshop. According to him, the free workshop is a breakthrough in the midst of an emergency.
He said humanitarian work did not stop at the distribution of logistical assistance alone, but also had to present solutions that were truly needed by the community.
"Through this free workshop, PKS strives to ensure that hope remains lit, the wheels of life turn again, and the community can slowly recover from the impact of the disaster they are experiencing," said Kholid.
