Delayed by the View Distance, the SAR Team Finally Found the Body of the ABK who Drowned in Muara Baru

JAKARTA - After conducting an intensive search for almost 24 hours, the joint SAR team finally managed to find the body of Ari Wijaya (25), the crew of the KM Prima Hasil Samudra ship who was reported to have drowned at the Muara Baru Port Wharf, Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

The victim was found dead on Saturday (10/1) afternoon, not far from the location where he was reported to have fallen into the sea.

Chronology of the Discovery: Body Appears on the Surface

The commander of the Basarnas Team, Aulia Sholihanto, confirmed that the victim's body was successfully evacuated at around 15.20 WIB. The victim's body was found floating on the surface of the water at a radius of about five meters from the coordinate point when he first drowned.

"The victim named Ari was found dead after a search was carried out since Saturday morning. In the afternoon, the victim's body appeared on the surface and was immediately evacuated," said Aulia Sholihanto in Jakarta.

After being successfully lifted from the water, the victim's body was immediately put into a body bag and taken to the pier for further identification by the Muara Baru Police.

Search Limitation: Limited View Distance

The search efforts carried out by the joint team since Saturday morning have actually used various methods, ranging from combing using rubber boats to diving. However, the murky water conditions are a challenge for officers.

"This afternoon we also conducted a diving process around the scene. However, it has not yielded results due to limited visibility," explained Aulia.

In addition to diving, the team also uses visual methods and the use of anchors to comb the bottom of the pier pool to detect the presence of the victim.

History of the Event

This tragic incident began on Friday (9/1) afternoon at around 14.30 WIB. Based on the report of the ship's manager, Susanto, to the Muara Baru Police, Ari was known to have fallen into the East Dock pool of the Muara Baru Port.

The Tanjung Priok Port Police Chief, AKBP Aris Wibowo, stated that since the report was received, the joint officers immediately moved to carry out the search. The SAR elements involved in this operation consist of:
