Megawati Instructs PDIP Kader to Work Together to Help Post-disaster Sumatra

JAKARTA - The General Chair of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Megawati Soekarnoputri, instructed her cadres to work together to help victims of natural disasters in Sumatra.

This was conveyed by Megawati in a speech at the 53rd Anniversary and I PDIP National Conference in 2026 at the Beach City International Stadium (BCIS), Ancol, North Jakarta, Saturday, January 10, 2026. The instruction was started by conveying condolences to the victims.

The host asked the cadres who were present at the event to silence for the victims of natural disasters in Sumatra.

"Before I deliver this political speech, please allow me, on behalf of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, to express my deepest condolences for the hydrometeorological disaster that has hit our brothers and sisters in Aceh Province, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra," said Megawati.

"Our prayers and solidarity go out to the victims, as well as strength and fortitude for all the families affected," said the fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Megawati believes it will take more than a year for Sumatra to recover from the disaster. So, he asked his cadres to work together to help people who were victims of the disaster.

"Rebuilding in one year is impossible. Can it be silent. They are our brothers. Don't hesitate to help each other. Prove you are PDIP people. Want? Prove it," he said.

Furthermore, Megawati asked her cadres to intensively help disaster victims.

"Go there, see the situation there, if you feel that you are the same people and the same land to get along," he said.

As previously reported, PDIP held a 53rd anniversary celebration which was followed by a National Working Meeting (Rakernas) at the Beach City International Stadium, Ancol, Jakarta, on January 10-12, 2026.
