KPK OTT Allegedly Related to Bribery Tax Obligation

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) held a hand-in-hand operation (OTT) and secured a number of parties at the North Jakarta Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes on Friday, January 9 evening. It is suspected that there was a practice of bribery when the activity took place.

"(Bribe, ed) reduction of tax payment obligations," said KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto to reporters through his written statement, Saturday, January 10.

Meanwhile, KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said eight people had been secured and were currently at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

"Until now, the team has secured a total of eight parties," Budi said in a separate statement.

In addition, the KPK also secured evidence in the form of money in the activity. Deputy Chairman of the KPK Fitroh Rohcahyanto said the amount reached hundreds of millions of rupiah and foreign exchange.

The KPK then has 1x24 hours to determine who the parties are charged with and the reasons. The official announcement will be made through a press conference.
