Rey Mbayang Challenged to Be an Extrovert in the Film "Bidadari Surga"
JAKARTA - Rey Mbayang has a different character in his latest film, Bidadari Surga. In this film, he plays Opan who has a 180-degree nature from his daily self.
Even though it's different, the 27-year-old actor feels helped by his wife, Dinda Hauw who plays the main role in this film,
"This is the third film, yes, but with Dinda (Hauw) it really helped me and it was very difficult because I felt that I was a more calm person, so I was very nervous, I was nervous myself," said Rey Mbayang at a film press conference in South Jakarta on Friday, January 9.
"Just say mas Indra (Gunawan - director), imagine lo YouTuber can think of fishing people to open hijab. Alhamdulilah with friends, Ibnu, mas Babab kang Dodid, this makes it easier," he said.
The change was appreciated by his co-star, Ibnu Wardhana who played Rey Mbayang's best friend.
"Before the crying scene, we laughed and he said "Crazy, I'm Opan, here. I can't, I can't, I have to cry," said Ibnu Wardhana.
Rey Mbayang also explained that when filming this film, he and Dinda Hauw had just welcomed the birth of their first child, but on the set they had to take care of each other.
"Just having a first child, so the bride's dowry is new. But when I met Nadia, I was hooked. Well, it's said that if you can speak the language of love, it's not visible," said Rey Mbayang.
Bidadari Surga tells the story of Opan (Rey Mbayang), a YouTuber prank who makes strange social experiments. One day he was enchanted by Nadia (Dinda Hauw) and wanted to propose to her, but Opan got a ban from Nadia's father who was a Kiai (Indro Warkop).
The film Bidadari Surga will be shown in Indonesian cinemas starting January 15, 2026.
