Gus Salam: Pandji Pragiwaksono tak Layak Dilaporkan ke polisi

JAKARTA - The nanny of the Denanyar Jombang Islamic Boarding School, Abdussalam Shohib, considers comedian Pandji Pragiwaksono not worthy of being reported to the police for his speech in a comedy show titled "Mens Rea".

"It is not appropriate for comedian Pandji Pragiwaksono to be reported for criminal offense for verbal expressions that come from honest thoughts based on beliefs, and in line with the honest thoughts of many people, including the nahdliyin," said the man who is commonly called Gus Salam in a statement reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 10.

He assessed that the material presented by Pandji represented the critical thinking of many people, not a slander against the practice of governing.

The reporter of the police comic, said Gus Salam, preferred an offended attitude and put prejudice first rather than investigating the facts.

"It's an emotional act that is far from the independent character to be able to understand and behave elegantly," he said.

Gus Salam said that what Pandji did was nothing more than revealing the strangeness in the practice of democracy, politics, and statehood in Indonesia.

Previously, Pandji was reported by parties on behalf of the Young Forces of Nahdlatul Ulama and the Young Alliance of Muhammadiyah to the Polda Metro Jaya regarding allegations of defamation of the Islamic organization.

However, both the General Manager of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) and the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah stated that the reporters were not part of them and the report was not the official stance of the two Islamic organizations.

Regarding the report, the Polda Metro Jaya announced on Friday that it had received a number of evidence, including a removable disk containing the material brought by Pandji in his performance.
