WEF 2026 to be the first Danantara stage in the world
JAKARTA - The Indonesian government will use the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, as the first stage to introduce the Nusantara Anagata Power Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) to the world economic forum.
Deputy for Investment Promotion of the Ministry of Investment and Industrialization/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Nurul Ichwan, said that this year's WEF was the first opportunity for the government to introduce Danantara as one of Indonesia's sovereign wealth funds (SWF).
"We have a special mission to socialize Danantara in the WEF forum," said Nurul in a media briefing at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta, Friday, January 9.
Nurul Ichwan said the government would use a series of bilateral discussions and meetings in Davos to promote Danantara as the seventh largest SWF in the world.
"So they know that Indonesia has a Sovereign Wealth Fund which has been conveyed on several occasions by several parties as the seventh largest Sovereign Wealth Fund in the world," he said.
Meanwhile, Danantara's Managing Director for Global Relations and Governance, Mohamad Al-Arief, said the WEF forum also opened up space for Danantara to explore cooperation and investment opportunities abroad, in line with the global expansion mandate that the institution has started to implement.
According to Arief, the role of Danantara will complement Indonesia's national agenda. BKPM focuses on attracting capital inflows, while Danantara and KADIN are directed to capture opportunities abroad.
"Their presence under one roof will certainly be used strategically. By ensuring our leaders meet with them and explore outbound investments," said Arief.
