Colo Kudus Longsor Tourism Access Bridge, 2 Vehicles Carried Away

KUDUS - The bridge located before the entrance to Colo Tourism, Colo Village, Dawe District, Kudus Regency, Central Java, collapsed due to heavy rainfall and resulted in two vehicles being dragged by the landslide material.

Dawe Police Chief AKP Budianto said the landslide occurred at around 19.30 WIB, after the Dawe District area was hit by heavy rain since morning accompanied by strong winds.

"Due to heavy rain that lasted quite a long time, the soil structure around the bridge became unstable. The bridge was finally unable to withstand the load and experienced a landslide," he said in a statement to ANTARA, Friday, January 9.

At the time of the incident, there were two vehicles parked on the bridge, namely a Suzuki Ertiga car and an Isuzu Elf tanker truck. Both vehicles were carried away by the landslide material.

The drivers only suffered minor injuries and were successfully evacuated by joint officers at the scene.

After the incident, the Dawe Police along with the Kudus Police Traffic Unit and related elements immediately arrived at the crime scene.

Officers are arranging traffic flow and giving advice to the public not to approach the landslide location to anticipate the possibility of a subsequent landslide.
