Manchester City Officially Announces the Arrival of Antoine Semenyo with a Transfer Value of IDR 1.4 Trillion
JAKARTA - Manchester City has completed a deal for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo.
The 26-year-old moved to the Etihad Stadium for an initial fee of £62.5 million with a further £1.5 million in potential bonuses or a total of £1.4 billion.
He signed a five-and-a-half-year contract until 2031 after undergoing a medical examination on Friday, January 9, 2026 WIB.
Semenyo has been registered in time for the weekend and could make his debut for Manchester City in the FA Cup Third Round against League One side Exeter City on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
He will also be eligible for the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Newcastle United at St James' Park on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, early morning WIB.
Manchester City's director of football, Hugo Viana, said the Ghanaian, who wears the number 42 previously worn by Yaya Toure, had become the Citizens' top priority in the transfer market after his impressive performance with Bournemouth.
"We continue to monitor players around the world. Antoine is the player we want most. He has shown that he is capable of playing in the English League."
"He is humble, hard-working, professional, and fully focused on becoming a better footballer. He is ideal for us," said Viana.
Semenyo left Bournemouth after scoring 10 goals in 20 Premier League games this season and came in with the hope of helping Manchester City win trophies in the second half of the season.
"I am very proud to have joined Manchester City. I have watched Manchester City over the last decade under Pep Guardiola."
"They have been the dominant team in the Premier League and achieved incredible things in the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup."
"I still have a lot of room to improve. So, being at this club, at this stage of my career, is perfect for me. It's an honor to be here."
"My best game is still to come, I'm sure of that. Manchester City are in a good position, still involved in four competitions."
"I really feel I can help them have a strong second half of the season," Semenyo said.
