BPBD Agam: 3,221 People Left Homeless

LUBUK BASUNG - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Agam Regency, West Sumatra, stated that the residents who were displaced due to the impact of hydrometeorological disasters in the area at the end of November 2025, remained as many as 3,221 people.

"These 3,221 people were displaced due to damaged houses and were in the red zone," said the Head of the BPBD Agam Implementation, Rahmat Lasmono, in Lubuk Basung, Antara, Friday, January 9.

He said that these 3,221 residents were spread across Palembayan District with 737 people, Palupuh 138 people and Matur 192 people. Furthermore, Tanjung Raya District 1,802 people, Ampek Koto 12 people and Malalak 280 people.

"They are displaced in places of worship, government facilities, educational facilities, and family homes," he said.

He added that previously residents had fled tens of thousands after flash floods, landslides and floods hit the area.

However, the flood conditions have receded and coupled with the hot weather, they returned to their homes.

"Those who are still displaced are people who are directly affected," he said.

He admitted that the disaster that hit the area resulted in 165 people dying spread across six sub-districts and 37 people have not been found.

Meanwhile, the value of damage and losses was around IDR 6.94 trillion due to damage to 2,619 units of houses, 133 units of educational facilities, damage to affected land of 2,188.77 hectares.

Then, the affected farms were 5,481 heads, irrigation 303 units, places of worship 27 units, bridges 40 units, damage to office buildings 30 units.
