SAR Joint Search for 1 Victim of Speed Boat that Drowned in Karimun Waters

TANJUNGPINANG - A joint SAR team carried out a search operation for one missing victim in an incident where a speedboat sank in the waters in front of the Tanjung Balai Karimun Coastal Area, Riau Islands Province (Kepri), while the other three victims were rescued.

Head of the Tanjungpinang SAR Office Fazzli said that the chronological events began when four victims went fishing from Kolong Water Gate using a 200 PK spearhead speedboat to the waters in front of the Karimun Coastal Area, Wednesday, January 7 at around 23.00 WIB.

Then, at around 01.00 WIB, the weather worsened and the victim intended to pull over, but the engine of the boat was damaged and could not be started.

The ship was suddenly hit by waves until it overturned, causing all the victims to fall into the sea and trying to survive by floating using a jerigen.

"Three victims were found safe by the KM Sempurna in the waters of Pandan Island and were later evacuated by Satpolairud Karimun Police. Meanwhile, one other victim has not yet been found," said Fazzli.

Fazzli said that his party only received information about the sinking speed boat on Friday morning or around 06.40 WIB from members of the Karimun Police Satpolairud.

After that, the Karimun SAR Post Rescue Team consisting of five personnel moved to the location using RIB 01 TBK to search for one missing victim.

SAR operations also involved joint elements from the Karimun SAR Post, Satpolairud Karimun Police and local people.

"Until now, the search operation for the victims is still being carried out by prioritizing the safety of personnel and adjusting to the weather conditions in the field," said Fazzli.

The data of the three survivors are:

1. Misran (45 years old), resident of Ranggam, Pamak Village, Tebing District.

2. Reski Febrianda (19 years old), resident of Perum Bukit Indah Carok, Tebing District.

3. Supriyanto (25 years old), resident of Pelabuhan Kolong.

Meanwhile, the data of one victim in the search:

1. Zainudin (33 years old), resident of Ranggam, Pamak Village, Tebing District.
