Persib vs Persija at the GBLA Stadium, 3 Thousand Security Personnel Dispatched
JAKARTA - The classic Indonesian duel between Persib Bandung and Persija Jakarta will be held on January 11, 2026 at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium (GBLA). For the sake of order and security of the match, as many as 3,000 joint personnel were deployed.
The decision to reduce the number of personnel was made in a coordination meeting to secure the match at the Bandung Police on Thursday, January 8, 2026, afternoon.
The West Java Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Rudi Setiawan, said the coordination meeting was held to mitigate all potential risks that may occur during the match.
"We have just held a rakor (coordination meeting) regarding security related to the match between Persib and Persija on January 11."
"We discussed various aspects, we mitigated all the risks that would occur and determined the steps to overcome them," he said in a press conference quoted on Friday, January 9, 2026.
The security deployment will also involve cross-regional and cross-agency cooperation. In addition to the Bandung Police, a number of police stations in the West Java border area with Jakarta are also involved.
"This involves all several police stations, the main one of course is the Bandung Police for the Bandung area and the police stations that border Jakarta and other places," he said.
Security for the match, which will determine the winner of the 2025/2026 Super League season, will not only involve the National Police, but also elements of the TNI and the Regional Government.
"Not only the National Police that we are involved in, there are other agencies from the TNI, it is from Kodam Siliwangi, we are involved. Then, the provincial government and the district/city government as well," he said.
In addition to stadium security, the West Java Police also prepared watching activities together in a number of areas as an alternative for Bobotoh who cannot attend directly at the stadium.
Rudi ensured that strict checks would be carried out at a number of points. The inspection will be carried out in layers up to three times before the supporters enter the stadium area.
Deputy Governor of West Java, Erwan Setiawan, who was present at the coordination meeting, appealed to all regional heads in West Java to hold a watch together (nobar) in their respective regions.
"I appeal, later I will also appeal to all regional heads in West Java to implement nobar in their respective areas," said Erwan.
