Investment in the ESDM Sector Decreases Electricity, Bahlil Wants to Meet PLN Boss
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) reported that the realization of investment in the energy sector throughout 2025 reached 31.7 billion US dollars (USD).
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia said the achievement was lower compared to the realization in 2024 which was recorded at US$ 32.3 billion.
He detailed, this figure consists of investments in the Minerba subsector of 6.7 billion US dollars, the oil and gas subsector of 18 billion US dollars, the electricity subsector of 4.6 billion US dollars, and the EBTKE subsector at 2.4 billion US dollars.
"Compared to 2024, 2025 there is a correction. Where? In electricity. Later I will meet with PLN," said Bahlil, quoted Friday, January 9.
Bahlil said that his party would assign PT PLN (Persero) to encourage the acceleration of the construction of new plants that have been approved in the Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) 2025-2034.
"I see that it really needs effort and hard work to be achieved," he said.
Furthermore, Bahlil added, if electricity consumption throughout 2025 continues to show significant growth.
The realization of electricity consumption in 2025 has reached 1,584 kWh per capita, or jumped 108.2 percent compared to the target set at 1,464 kWh.
"Now our per capita electricity consumption in 2024 is 1,411 kWh. In 2025 it will increase to 1,584 kWh," he said.
The Chairman of the Golkar Party said this increase in consumption showed an increase in energy demand coupled with economic growth.
In addition, this surge was also triggered by the acceleration of the national electrification program.
"I say 5,700 villages that have no electricity, 4,400 villages, and this year we have worked on approximately 1,500 more points that we have made breakthroughs," said Bahlil.
