No Criminal Elements Found, Police Reason for Stopping the Case of Diplomat Arya Daru
JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya has stopped investigating the death of young diplomat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) Arya Daru Pangayunan (ADP).
"The statement from the investigators, the search was stopped because from the series of searches, processing of evidence and witness statements, the results of the title of the case did not find a criminal offense," said Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, in his statement quoted by Antara, Friday, January 9.
However, he said that if there were family members who had new and valid evidence, then investigators would investigate again.
The termination of the investigation was based on a notification letter from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Polda Metro Jaya to the family with the number B/63/I/RES.1.24/2026/Ditreskrimum, dated January 6, 2026.
Previously, Arya Daru Pangayunan's family lawyer, Nicholay Aprilindo, asked the Polda Metro Jaya to conduct a case study related to the death of the young diplomat from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Because what we know and we get information from the Metro Jaya Police itself, that until now, no case has ever been held," said Nicholay when met at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on November 26, 2025.
He explained that the Metro Jaya Police only held a press conference on July 29, 2025, namely the announcement or notification of the results of the expert conclusion.
"Therefore, we ask that a case be filed in this case. Then, in the case, we also ask that it be upgraded to an investigation so that there is a legal effort, a coercive effort against anyone who is suspected of being involved in this mysterious death," said Nicholay.
As is known, Arya Daru Pangayunan was found dead in his dormitory room in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, on July 8, 2025.
When found, his face was wrapped in duct tape/plastic, and in the dormitory there was no significant mess, namely the sheets and blankets were orderly, and there were no signs of rough impact on the body.
In addition, the boarding house also uses a security system with a smart lock so that access is controlled and raises serious questions about how the perpetrator entered the room.
