Chicken and Chili Prices Rise, Jakarta Inflation Hits 0.33 Percent
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) DKI Jakarta recorded inflation in Jakarta in December 2025 at 0.33 percent on a monthly basis or month to month (m to m). A number of food and energy commodities are the main contributors to this price increase.
Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Nurul Hasanudin, said that December 2025 inflation was influenced by the movement of the prices of several commodities that are quite high in consumption in the community.
"Month to month inflation (m to m) of 0.33 percent is influenced by several commodities. Among them are broiler chicken (0.08 percent), sweet peas (0.07 percent) and gasoline (0.05 percent),* said Nurul in his statement, Friday, January 9.
Apart from inflation, BPS also noted that Jakarta's export performance showed a positive trend. In November 2025, Jakarta's export value increased significantly compared to the same period last year.
"Export growth increased by 22.68 percent or reached 1.65 billion US dollars compared to November 2024. Meanwhile, Jakarta's imports reached 6.97 billion US dollars," he said.
According to Nurul, the maintained inflation control also plays a role in encouraging economic activity, including international trade and the service sector in the capital.
In terms of tourism, the performance of the hospitality industry in Jakarta has also improved. This is reflected in the increase in hotel room occupancy in November 2025 compared to the previous month.
"The tourism sector in DKI Jakarta experienced a positive trend in November 2025. This can be seen from the occupancy rate (TPK) of hotels which increased by 4.34 percent compared to October 2025," said Nurul.
He detailed that the occupancy rate of star-rated hotel rooms in November 2025 reached 62.03 percent. Meanwhile, non-star hotels recorded an occupancy rate of 44.90 percent.
Public transportation activities in Jakarta also show high community mobility. BPS recorded the number of mass transportation passengers still at a high level throughout November 2025.
"For transportation in Jakarta, BPS recorded that during November 2025 there were 4,061,751 MRT passengers, 114,965 LRT passengers, and 37,769,186 Transjakarta passengers," he explained.
Meanwhile, passenger movements through air and sea transportation modes were also stable. The number of passengers departing from Tanjung Priok Port in November 2025 was recorded at 14,958 people, while from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport reached 92,786 people.
