BYD Refresh This Cheap PHEV Sedan with a Larger Battery

JAKARTA - BYD officially launched a refreshed version (2026 model) of its two flagship sedans, the BYD Qin Plus DM-i and Qin L DM-i in China, which comes with an increased selection of battery options.

Quoting from the Carnewschina website, Friday, January 9, Qin is one of the most popular model lines under the BYD brand, with sales of 661,090 units last year. The latest variants of the Qin Plus DM-i and Qin L DM-i aim to maintain high sales volumes.

The main update to the 2026 Qin Plus DM-i and Qin L DM-i models is a larger battery option, namely 25.28 kWh. This battery is an LFP package produced by FinDreams, a subsidiary of BYD. This battery is part of the DM 5.0 drive system consisting of a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine.

In terms of design, the BYD Qin Plus DM-i maintains the same design language called Loong Face. However, this latest version comes in three new colors, namely Pine Smoke Green, Bamboo Green, and Wiyang Gray.

The standard version of the BYD Qin Plus DM-i has an 8.8-inch instrument panel and a 10.1-inch touchscreen. The top version offers a larger screen, namely 12.8 inches.

This car is supported by the DiLink 100 infotainment system with a microphone-less karaoke function. The top-of-the-line BYD Qin Plus DM-i is also equipped with the DiPilot 100 driving assistance system with 12 cameras, 5 mm wave radar, and 100 TOPS computing power.

The entry-level version of the BYD Qin Plus DM-i has a 15.87 kWh battery that can travel 128 km in CLTC terms.

Meanwhile, the BYD Qin L DM-i is a large-sized sedan. This model is distinguished by a large lower grille and sharp headlights. This car also comes in three new color options, namely Pine Smoke Green, Ink Bamboo Green, and Galaxy Beige.

The 2026 Qin L DM-I model as the base variant has a combination of an 8.8-inch LCD instrument panel and a 12.8-inch touchscreen. The top variant offers a 15.6-inch monitor powered by the DiLink 100 system. Other features of the Qin L include a refrigerator and a head-up display. The higher variant of this sedan has the DiPilot 100 ADAS system.

The standard version of the BYD Qin Plus DM-i has a 15.87 kWh battery that can travel 128 km. As an affordable PHEV sedan with an electric range of up to 210 km, this model is priced at a starting price of 79,800 yuan or Rp192 million.
