The case of the death of a young diplomat was stopped, the lawyer questioned the police's reasons
JAKARTA - The case of the death of the Foreign Ministry's Young Diplomat (Kemlu) Arya Daru Pangayunan (ADP), was stopped by the Polda Metro Jaya. The case was stopped by the issuance of a Letter of Order to Stop the Investigation (SP3) Number: SPPP/310/XII/2025/Ditreskrimum, dated December 12, 2025.
"The case of the mysterious death of diplomat, ADP. The investigation was stopped by the investigator of the Polda Metro Jaya," said Arya Daru's family lawyer, Nicholay Aprilindo, Friday, January 9, 2026.
Nicholay said the reason the police stopped the investigation was because no criminal incident had been found.
According to him, the word 'not yet' opens the possibility of a criminal event. He also questioned the police's move to stop the case.
"No criminal incident has been found, remember the word 'not' means it is still open 'the possibility of a criminal incident', but why should it be stopped?" he said.
In a letter seen by VOI, the document was signed by the Head of the Resmob Sub-Directorate of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Resa Fiardi Marasabessy, on behalf of the Polda Metro Jaya Criminal Investigation Unit, Kombes Iman Imanuddin.
Separately, Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, confirmed the termination of the investigation. He explained that the decision was made after investigators conducted a series of investigations, ranging from processing evidence to examining a number of witnesses.
"The investigation was stopped because from the series of investigations, evidence processing, and witness statements, the results of the title of the case concluded that there was no criminal act," explained Budi.
However, Budi emphasized that the investigation could be reopened if the family had new evidence that was considered valid.
"If the family has new evidence that is valid and relevant, the investigators will re-investigate the case," he concluded.
