Kramat Jati Market Involves Independent Team to Investigate the Building After the Fire

JAKARTA - The management of the Kramat Jati Central Market has involved an independent team to check and review the entire structure of the building before making a decision regarding the renovation of hundreds of kiosks in the Los Buah Blok C2 area that had previously burned.

"Regarding the location of the C2 block that was on fire, we are indeed conducting a preliminary review with independent parties, both in terms of structure and so on," said Kramat Jati Wholesale Market Manager Agus Lamun, quoted by Antara, Friday, January 9.

He said his party had not made a decision regarding the reconstruction of the building.

Currently, market management is still focusing on conducting a thorough study of the condition of the building, especially the building structure that was affected by the fire.

"From the results of the study, we will determine the next steps for the buildings at the location," said Agus.

The examination process is carried out seriously by involving independent parties so that the results of the study are objective and accurate.

According to Agus, the examination is aimed at finding out if the market building is still viable in the long term.

"We have involved friends from independent parties to test the structure of the building, whether this market building is still adequate for use for decades to come or not," explained Agus.

In addition, he emphasized that the results of the examination of the structure would also be the basis for decision-making if Block C2 would be revitalized or rebuilt in total.

"From the results, we will determine the next steps, whether it will be revitalized or developed in total," said Agus.

The process of checking the structure by the new independent team began earlier this week. He also hopes that the results of the study can be released soon so that the direction of handling Block C2 can be determined as soon as possible.

"Just yesterday, precisely on Monday (5/1), a structural check was carried out. We hope that from the results it can be determined whether this building is still adequate or not for revitalization," said Agus.

Until now, the management of the Kramat Jati Central Market continues to coordinate with various parties to ensure that post-fire handling runs optimally, both in terms of building safety and the continuation of economic activities for traders.

Agus ensured that trading activities continued after the fire that hit Block C2.

The affected traders have also been relocated to temporary shelters and are back selling.

"Alhamdulillah, we have relocated traders and have occupied a new shelter. Currently, they are actively selling again," said Agus.

A total of 19 fire trucks, consisting of 16 units from East Jakarta, two units of assistance from the service, and one additional unit from the South Jakarta area, were deployed to the scene.

The cooling process began at 08.20 WIB and involved a number of personnel who combed the affected kiosk area, including the roof and the gaps between the market buildings.

Officers also carried out the decomposition of the burned material to speed up the cooling process.
