JPU Says Ammar Zoni Once Admitted to Involvement in BAP, Now Denies it in Court
JAKARTA - There is a very significant contradiction between Ammar Zoni's statement in the Investigation Report (BAP) and his testimony at the trial.
Public Prosecutor (JPU) Andri Saputra revealed that in the BAP, Ammar Zoni clearly admitted his involvement.
"Yes, I was just in the trial, it was revealed according to the BAP, yes. BAP... yes, like the indictment we have presented, there is indeed involvement of the narcotics defendant," said Andri at the Central Jakarta District Court, Thursday, January 8.
In the BAP, Ammar Zoni was said not to deny the allegations addressed to him. This testimony is one of the main bases for the JPU to prepare the indictment.
The JPU feels confident to continue this case to trial (P21) because the testimony of all defendants supports each other. The flow of the circulation of narcotics is said to lead and anchor on Ammar Zoni.
"Because the six of them admitted from Asep to Adrian, then finally to Ammar," he explained.
However, at the trial, Ammar Zoni gave a 180-degree different statement. He withdrew his BAP and denied all accusations, even claiming intimidation.
"But in BAP, it was not denied by Ammar. It's his right," said Andri.
The contradiction between the confession in the BAP and the denial in this trial is the core of the "war" of proof. The JPU must now work extra hard to prove that the statement in the BAP is the correct one.
The summoning of police investigators as witnesses is a crucial step. They will be asked for information to confirm the authenticity and the process of making the BAP.
