Checkmate Money Patungan Buy Ballo Inheritance, Makassar Youth Kills His Friend

MAKASSAR - The police arrested the perpetrator of the murder of the initials HBM (40) who killed his colleague with the initials R (50) while having a liquor party (miras) type of tuak (Ballo) on Jalan Banta-bantaeng, Rappocini District, Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"The perpetrator has now been secured after the incident at the police station," said Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Rappocini Police, Iptu Ali Jaras, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, January 8.

He explained that the incident occurred on Tuesday, January 6, 2025 at around 20.30 WITA on the edge of Jalan Poros Banta-bantaeng, Rappocini District.

At that time, his colleagues collected money to buy tuak or traditional Ballo drinks to party. After the money was collected, the liquor was bought. However, the victim was suspected of hiding some of the money.

"Previously, they were friends and had a party on the edge of the Banta-bantaeng axis. At that time, the joint bought liquor. The perpetrators suspected the victim of hiding money and then there was a debate, they quarreled," he said.

Unfortunately, the perpetrator, who was emotional, kicked the victim hard in the chest so that he fell from the chair. Feeling unsatisfied, the perpetrator hit his head on the ground. The victim is known to be a resident of Maros Regency.

Other victims' colleagues tried to stop the perpetrator and checked the condition of the victim who was lying down by checking the breath from his mouth, but there was no response.

"When he was examined, he had no breath. The victim was declared dead. Seeing the incident, the victim died, the perpetrator immediately left the scene," he explained.

The perpetrator was charged with Article 446 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) number 1 of 2023 concerning abuse which resulted in death.

"Because the suspect's actions resulted in the death of someone, he is threatened with a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison and we also apply the new Criminal Code to the perpetrator," he said.
