Cermati Fintech Group Boost Circular Economy via Waste Processing

JAKARTA - Cermati Fintech Group strengthens its commitment to environmental sustainability and economic empowerment of the community through a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program based on circular economy.

The program is carried out in collaboration with the Kertabumi waste bank.

Through its entity ecosystem which includes Cermati, Cermati Protect, Cermati Invest, Indodana Finance, and Indodana Fintech, the Cermati Fintech Group provides support in the form of an inorganic waste processing machine at the Kertabumi Recycling Center, South Tangerang.

This step is aimed at encouraging the use of waste into products with added economic value.

In addition to providing machines, the company also manages inorganic waste from its operational activities, such as paper, cloth, plastic, and impraboard.

From this initiative, about 660 kilograms of combined garbage was collected which was then processed by local residents who were members of Karang Taruna and PKK into various handicraft products.

The recycled products are then marketed through the Kertabumi gallery and social media channels.

All the income from the sale of handicrafts will be recycled to support operations and improve the welfare of the surrounding community, thus creating a sustainable economic cycle.

CEO of Cermati Fintech Group, Andhy Koesnandar, said that business growth must be in line with responsibility towards the environment.

According to him, the use of promotional materials into functional products is a creative approach to reduce operational carbon footprint while extending the life cycle of materials.

"We want to ensure that business growth does not sideline natural sustainability. We are working to present real solutions so that materials that were previously waste can have new benefits," said Andhy.

Indodana Fintech President Director Ronny Wijaya added that this initiative is part of efforts to build a sustainable financial technology ecosystem.

He assessed that digital innovation must go hand in hand with environmental preservation in order to provide a wider positive impact for the community.

Meanwhile, the Director of Indodana Finance, Iwan Dewanto, emphasized the importance of community empowerment in the program.

According to Iwan, waste management is not only about technology, but also about opening up creative economic opportunities for residents around.

"With proper processing, waste is not the end of a process, but the beginning of new value. We hope that this program can encourage the birth of sustainable recycling-based business opportunities and improve people's welfare," said Iwan.

Cermati Fintech Group believes that the implementation of a circular economy is not only a solution to environmental challenges, but also able to contribute to the sustainable strengthening of the local community's economy.
