Aceh extends emergency response status until January 22
BANDA ACEH - Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf (Mualem) has again set a third extension of the Aceh hydrometeorological disaster emergency response status for the next 14 days, starting from January 9 to January 22, 2026.
"I as the Governor of Aceh have determined the third extension of the Aceh hydrometeorological disaster emergency response status for the next 14 days, starting from January 9 to 22, 2026," said Mualemdi Banda Aceh, Thursday, January 8, reported by ANTARA.
The decision was conveyed by Mualem in the third extension meeting of the Aceh hydrometeorological disaster emergency response status which he chaired virtually, in the Aceh Disaster Emergency Response Post meeting room, at the Aceh Governor's office, Banda Aceh.
In his decision, Mualem said this extension was also based on the results of coordination with the central government and the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) letter dated January 7, 2026 regarding the Extension of the Aceh Disaster Emergency Response Status.
This extension, he said, was based on consideration of the conditions for disaster management and the distribution of affected victims, as well as taking into account the fact that there are still isolated areas, limitations on the production of logistics in affected districts/cities, and the need for acceleration of public services and government administration.
Mualem said this extension is in order to ensure that environmental cleaning, distribution of logistical assistance, health services, and improvement of community access can be carried out more quickly, evenly, and coordinated, including reaching affected villages that are difficult to access.
Mualem encouraged all SKPA, district/city governments, TNI/Polri, volunteers, businesses, and the community to continue to work together to accelerate the recovery of Acehagar schools, settlements, public facilities, and the economy so that residents can recover immediately and community activities return to normal.
"I also instruct that the recovery of roads and bridges in the affected areas be carried out immediately, so that community connectivity can return to normal," he said.
Mualem asked all regional heads in Aceh to prepare a post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction plan (R3P) document, no later than the third week of January 2026, as the basis for implementing better and more resilient Aceh recovery and reconstruction.
"To all Acehnese people who are affected, we convey empathy and full support. The government will continue to be present, work, and ensure that the recovery process goes as well as possible," said Mualem.
