Ammar Zoni Firmly Admits to Using Drugs: I've promised!

JAKARTA - Actor Ammar Zoni gave an in-depth testimony about his struggle against drug addiction in the latest trial.

In front of the panel of judges, Ammar openly admitted his past as a methamphetamine addict and explained the severe psychological impact he had experienced.

In the question and answer session, Ammar explained that drug abuse is not just a bad habit, but a complex health disorder.

Ammar admitted that he had been at the point of addiction to amphetamine-type substances or crystal meth. He said that the nature of drug dependence is very difficult to eliminate because it attacks nerve function.

"I am addicted to His Majesty. I use amphetamine or methamphetamine. Drugs are chronic brain diseases, so it will come up again," said Ammar at the Central Jakarta District Court, Thursday, January 8.

He also revealed that at first, he used the illegal goods on the grounds of professional demands.

"At that time I used it to work," he admitted.

When the judge delved into what a drug addict feels when trying to quit, Ammar revealed the physical and mental suffering he experienced when he experienced "sakau" or substance withdrawal.

Although according to him, the urge to wear often comes from suggestions, the actual impact is very psychologically torturous.

"There is indeed a different feeling when you break up with a substance, such as fever, insecurity, fear, and psychological anxiety," said Ammar.

However, he stressed that for now, his condition has improved a lot and feels physically healthy.

Regarding his involvement in the narcotics case, Ammar clarified the last time he took methamphetamine. He stated that he had not touched the substance for quite some time since the previous legal case.

"Two years ago, in a long case. I have promised not to do it again," he said in front of the judge.
