President Gives Awards to TNI Athletes Promoted to Officer

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto gave special appreciation to athletes from the TNI element who managed to achieve achievements at the 33rd SEA Games Thailand 2025, in the form of a rank increase to become an officer.

During the SEA Games athlete award ceremony at the State Palace, Jakarta, the President highlighted the equestrian sports athletes in the eventing category who came from the TNI.

According to the report he received, the athlete still competed despite suffering a serious injury from a horse kick a few days before the match until he suffered a broken rib.

"So he fought by holding his ribs and did not want to give up on the finish, after the finish he immediately fainted. I think this is a spirit that we should appreciate. So I thank the TNI Commander, the TNI Commander was immediately sent to school to become an officer," said Prabowo as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, January 8.

In addition, the President also expressed his appreciation to other TNI athletes, namely Rizki Juniansyah or the weightlifting athlete who broke the record again.

Rizki was previously recruited as a member of the TNI with the rank of Lieutenant Two after winning gold at the Olympics. Thanks to his latest achievement, TNI Commander Agus Subiyanto raised his rank two levels to Captain.

"So I got a report, the TNI Commander bravely promoted this athlete two levels. So from Lieutenant Two to Captain. Because you raised the name of the honor of the Indonesian nation in the world arena. Thank you for your honor," said the President.

The President emphasized that sports are a reflection of the strength and revival of a nation. Therefore, the athletes selected to represent Indonesia have a strategic role as a symbol of national strength.
