JAKARTA - The fifth generation or 5G network has just arrived in Indonesia. Minister of Communication and Informatics (Menkominfo) Johnny G. Plate realizes the huge potential of 5G commercialization, as it increases efficiency at the customer level.
Johnny revealed at the launch of Telkomsel's 5G network, that telecommunications service providers or cellular operators need to prepare an adequate roadmap.
"Efficiency for customers is not only commercial but technological, because of its speed, there are so many benefits," he said in an official statement, Friday, May 28.
These benefits include gaming, virtual reality and others that can be used, from human to human communication, human to machine communication, and again for industry, machine to machine communication.
On the other hand, Johnny also appreciated the inauguration of Telkomsel's 5G, including plans for commercial operations in the Jabotabek area and other big cities. However, he reminded that the implementation of commercial operations requires ecosystem cooperation, from ministries, agencies, provincial, district and city governments to village governments.
“The industrial ecosystem to ensure the smooth development of 5G technology. Don't forget to prepare an adequate roadmap, because it is not easy to place microcell in big cities, ”said Johnny.
Johnny also hopes that the licensing of 5G operations to Telkomsel can have a multiplier effect on the national economy. In addition, telecommunications operators can pay attention to the use of domestic components or the Domestic Component Level (TKDN).
"Encourage and stimulate investment in the component sector, encourage and stimulate infrastructure investment that we must be able to generate domestically, so that we can get optimal and maximum benefits. For this reason, the deployment of 5G is carried out," said Johnny.
