Nio Expands Globally to Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand This Year, Indonesia?
JAKARTA - Several Chinese brands continue to expand their presence in international markets. Most recently, Nio will expand into the Australian and New Zealand markets this year.
CNevpost, Thursday, January 8, the company will launch electric vehicles (EVs) in Australia and New Zealand this year, possibly in the second half of 2026. As well as entering the Thai market in March by launching the Firefly brand vehicle.
Australia, New Zealand and Thailand are markets with right-hand drive systems, where vehicles have steering wheels on the right side, in contrast to China with left-hand drive systems.
Previously, Nio showcased a right-hand drive version of the Firefly EV at the Singapore Motor Show, and this right-hand drive Firefly EV is Nio Inc.'s first right-hand drive vehicle.
"The car will go on sale in Singapore around Chinese New Year 2026 in February," wrote a Nio representative.
Nio positions Firefly as its pioneering brand to explore the global market, believing that this premium compact EV is more affordable and better suited for urban commuter trips.
Nio stated that they aim to expand their international reach to 40 countries and regions by the end of the year. Will Indonesia be the next destination? Of course it is highly anticipated.
