Still Testing Material MK, Bahlil Assures that Ormas Mines Will Continue to Be Given

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed the latest news regarding the granting of mining permits by religious organizations.

Bahlil said that the granting of permits to these mass organizations is still being tested or judicial review (JR) at the Constitutional Court (MK). However, he ensured that the rules for granting mining permits to mass organizations had a complete legal basis, ranging from laws (UU), government regulations (PP), to ministerial regulations (Permen).

"Permits for community organizations, right now we are still JR at the Constitutional Court. Even though the law is there, the PP is there, the Permen is there, but now we are facing a judicial review at the Constitutional Court," said Bahlil, Thursday, January 8.

He added that currently the government is still waiting for the results of the judicial review process at the Constitutional Court to ensure legal certainty.

He also added that even though the process is still ongoing, licensing must not stop while waiting for the decision.

"If (JR MK) is finished, it means we are clear. However, this does not mean that we wait for it to be the only way. It can already run," he said.

Bahlil said that the mining business permit for Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) had been completed since he was still serving as the Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM.

"It doesn't mean we wait for it to be the only way. It can already run. If you have NU, it's over since I was still at the Investment Ministry," he said.

On the other hand, the mining permit for Muhammadiyah is still in the evaluation stage internally at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

"Well, Muhammadiyah now has it again being exercised by the Director General of Mining. So are the others," he said.
