The Governor Urged the Financial Services Authority to Intensify Education for Papuans on the Dangers of Online Gambling
JAKARTA - Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri has asked the local Financial Services Authority (OJK) to intensify public education regarding the dangers of online gambling (judol) and illegal online loans, which impact the health of residents' financial management.
"On Wednesday (January 7), the Papua OJK conducted a working visit, and during the meeting, I requested that education be intensified regarding the dangers of illegal online loans and judol, especially for people in rural areas," he said in Jayapura on Thursday, January 8, as quoted by Antara.
According to Fakhiri, early education is crucial for the public, especially regarding deviant financial practices such as online gambling and illegal loans.
"Therefore, collaboration between the regional government and the OJK is crucial in monitoring financial flows in Papua," he said.
He explained that this also includes supporting regional banks to ensure sound and healthy financial management.
"With this coordination and collaboration, the OJK can help monitor financial flows in the region, so we can also determine the health of financial management in Papua Province," he said.
He added that his office also requested that the public be given an understanding of financial management from an early age so that it can be carried out properly and correctly.
"Moreover, this is also important to support MSMEs and credit distribution to the public," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for Papua Province, Fatwa Aulia, stated that his office is ready to fully support the programs of the Papua Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Matius D. Fakhiri.
"We are very ready to collaborate and support the Papua Provincial Government in promoting better finances," he concluded.
