Prabowo Announces Large-scale Seizure of Palm Oil Land in 2026
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto revealed that the Attorney General's Office will confiscate again the problematic 4 million to 5 million hectares of oil palm plantation land in 2026. The confiscation is a continuation of the crackdown on illegal oil palm land that the government has previously carried out.
This was conveyed by Prabowo when attending the harvest festival in Karawang Regency, West Java, Wednesday, January 7. On this occasion, the President invited all elements of the nation to unite to uphold the law and eradicate corruption.
"We have mastered, we have confiscated 4 million hectares of oil palm plantations that violate the law. In 2026 we will confiscate an additional 4 to 5 million hectares," said Prabowo in front of farmers and a number of state officials.
In addition to oil palm land, the President said the government had also taken action against hundreds of illegal mines that operated without permits. From the crackdown, the country managed to save hundreds of trillion rupiah in potential losses.
"We have taken action against hundreds of illegal mines. We have saved hundreds of trillion rupiah. There are still many leaks and we will continue to pursue them, because the people's money must really be enjoyed by all Indonesians," said Prabowo.
The President emphasized that there should not be a single rupiah of state money that is misused or does not reach the people. He called this commitment a responsibility of the Red and White Cabinet mandated directly by the people.
Previously, at the end of December 2025, President Prabowo also emphasized that the seizure of 4 million hectares of illegal oil palm land that the state had just carried out was only the first step. He believes that there are still many forest areas that are illegally controlled by entrepreneurs who violate the rules.
"This is just the beginning. If it is thoroughly investigated, the potential loss to the state could reach hundreds of trillion rupiah," said Prabowo when giving information at the Attorney General's Office, Jakarta, December 24, 2025.
The President added that the practice of illegal possession of forest areas had been going on for a long time because of the existence of businessmen who bribed officials and state officials.
"They dare to harass the country, considering officials at every level can be bought and bribed," he said.
Therefore, Prabowo reminded the Forest Area Regulation Task Force (Satgas PKH) to maintain integrity, work honestly, and avoid all forms of lobbying from interested parties, in order to protect the interests of the people and the state's finances.
