President Prabowo Proud, Indonesia Can Return to Food Self-sufficiency in One Year

KARAWANG - President Prabowo Subianto is proud that Indonesia has succeeded in achieving food self-sufficiency. This is evidenced by the government's rice reserve reaching 3.2 million tons, the highest in Indonesia's history.

Prabowo said that food self-sufficiency was actually targeted to be achieved within four years. Thanks to the hard work and slick cooperation of his staff, food self-sufficiency can be realized faster.

This was conveyed by President Prabowo when giving a speech at the Raya Harvest and Food Self-sufficiency Announcement event in Karawang, Wednesday, January 7.

President Prabowo said that Indonesia had been threatened by a food crisis due to its dependence on imports. During the COVID-19 pandemic, which hit the world, Indonesia had difficulty obtaining rice supplies from abroad.

Therefore, the momentum of rice self-sufficiency this time is considered very appropriate and relevant. In the midst of a global situation full of uncertainty, Indonesia has been able to meet its own basic needs.

In addition to food, Prabowo also believes that Indonesia can be self-sufficient in terms of meeting energy needs. According to him, Indonesia has great natural wealth and potential, so self-sufficiency is not impossible.
