Kapolda Kaltara Controls Food Self-sufficiency, Bulungan Lampaui Targets Planting
BULUNGAN - Bulungan Regency has recorded significant achievements in supporting the national food self-sufficiency agenda. The realization of the Rice Cultivation Addition Area (LTT) until December 2025 reached 7,972.52 hectares or 119.46 percent of the target set.
This achievement is one of the highlights of the harvest activities attended by the North Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Djati Wiyoto Abadhy on Wednesday, January 7.
The rice harvest which took place in the fertile farmer group land, Karang Agung Village, North Tanjung Palas District, was coupled with the announcement of food self-sufficiency by the President virtually, as well as the launch of the 2026 rice planting movement.
North Kalimantan Governor Zainal A. Paliwang emphasized that this achievement reflects the strength of cross-sectoral collaboration in promoting regional food self-sufficiency.
"The wide achievement of rice planting that exceeds this target shows that North Kalimantan is able to become an important part of the national food self-sufficiency agenda. This is the result of the joint work of farmers, the government, and all stakeholders," said Zainal.
Agricultural data shows a significant increase compared to the previous year. In 2024, the realization of rice LTT in Bulungan was recorded at 5,703 hectares. This figure increased by 39.79 percent in 2025, driven by land optimization, support for CSR programs, and the contribution of gogo rice as a flagship commodity.
North Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Djati Wiyoto Abadhy emphasized that the National Police played an active role in monitoring the sustainability of the food security program.
"The National Police is committed to ensuring that the food security program runs safely and accurately. Security for the distribution of agricultural facilities to the harvest process is part of our efforts so that farmers can work calmly and productivity continues to increase," said Djati.
Inspector General Djati emphasized that security stability in the agricultural sector is an important factor in maintaining the smooth production of food, especially in strategic areas such as Kaltara.
"With achievements that exceed targets and trends in productivity growth, Bulungan Regency is projected to be one of the pillars of food security in the northern region of Kalimantan," he said.
"The police, together with the local government and farmers' groups, are targeting the sustainability of planting and land optimization as the key to maintaining national food stability in the future," he said.
