Yemen Presidential Emergency Meeting Fires 2 Ministers
YEMEN - The Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen, headed by President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, held an emergency meeting on Wednesday, which was attended by a number of members.
According to the Yemen News Agency (SABA), the meeting reviewed the latest security and military developments in several southern provinces and was attended by Sultan Al-Aradah, Tariq Saleh, Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, and Othman Majali.
The meeting follows a statement from the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, which highlighted the serious escalation carried out by some rebel leaders, and their efforts to hinder de-escalation steps.
The council was briefed on the consequences of the failure of one of the members to respond to the invitation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as unilateral actions and movements that clearly deviate from the agreed framework for the transition phase, thus weakening efforts to protect civilians and prevent widespread violence.
In response, the council decided to remove Aidrous Al-Zubaidi from his post and hand him over to the Attorney General on charges of high treason, undermining the political and economic status of the Republic of Yemen, obstructing the country's efforts to face the coup, and inciting internal strife.
The meeting also agreed to dismiss the Minister of Transportation Abdulsalam Hamid and the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Waed Badhib, and referred them for investigation.
The council further ordered the pursuit and arrest of individuals involved in the distribution of weapons and threatening civil peace, as well as ensuring they face justice.
The council also stressed that the state would act firmly against all violations to uphold the rule of law and protect public rights and freedoms.
The Presidential Leadership Council reiterated unity in military and security decision-making and respect for the chain of command as inviolable principles.
They also stressed that any serious violation of these duties will be followed up with accountability based on the constitution and law.
The council therefore approved a series of urgent measures, including instructing the relevant authorities to take all necessary steps to protect civilians and public facilities in the temporary capital, Aden, and the liberated provinces.
They also encouraged steps to unify command and control over all military and security formations, as well as prevent any movement or mobilization outside the framework of the state.
The Council expressed its appreciation for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the leadership of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen in easing tensions, protecting civilians, maintaining security and stability, and preventing the return of internal conflicts.
They reaffirmed the country's commitment to implement its sovereign decisions and enforce its legal authority.
They also praised the nationalistic attitude of the people in Aden and the liberated provinces in defending the republican system and legitimate state institutions during the critical situation.
They again called on citizens to cooperate fully with security and military agencies and report any actions or movements that could disrupt security or endanger the lives of civilians.
