SAR Team Finds 1 Victim Missing in Sitaro Flood, 2 Others Still Being Searched for

JAKARTA - A joint SAR team has successfully found one missing victim in the name of Claiton Tatambihe, 3 years old, a resident of Laghaeng Village, South West Siau District, Siau-Tagulandang-Biaro Islands Regency (Sitaro).

"The victim was found at his house," said North Sulawesi (Sulut) Basarnas Public Relations Officer Nuriadin Gumeleng in Manado, Wednesday, quoted by Antara.

After the victim was found missing, Claiton Tatambihe was found at around 13.34 Wita.

With the discovery of Claiton, the joint SAR team is still looking for two other missing victims on behalf of Adris Pianaung and Leon Pianaung, both of whom are residents of Bahu Village.

The search and evacuation process, he said, was also assisted by the TNI-Polri, other related parties, and the community.

Previously on Monday, January 5 at 02.45 Wita, several villages/villages on Siau Island were hit by flash floods due to heavy rain for about five hours without stopping.

Heavy flooding hit several villages/villages, causing 16 people to die, injured, and damaged and lost houses.

The settlements affected by the disaster include Bahu Village, Paniki Village, Paseng Village, Bumbiha Village, Peling Village, Laghaeng Village, Batusenggo Village, Beong Village, Salili Village.

The North Sulawesi Provincial Government (Pemprov), the Kepulauan Sitaro Regency Government (Pemkab), TNI, Polri, Basarnas, related parties, and the community are working together to restore the residential areas of residents affected by the flash flood.
