Babel Deputy Governor Hellyana admits her relationship with the Governor is broken

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of Bangka Belitung Islands (Wagub Babel) Hellyana admitted that her relationship with Governor of Babel Hidayat Arsani was not harmonious. In fact, he assessed the report against him in the case of alleged use of a fake diploma was full of political elements.

This was conveyed by Hellyana when he fulfilled the call of investigators for the first examination as a suspect at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police.

"It is undeniable, the rift with the Governor is indeed there. Our relationship is only normal about a month after the inauguration. After that, it's not good," he said at the Criminal Investigation Unit, South Jakarta, Wednesday, December 7, 2026.

Hellyana explained that after the relationship deteriorated, she experienced restrictions on her authority as Deputy Governor. He even admitted that he had sent a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) and the Bangka Belitung DPRD regarding the issuance of the Governor's Regulation and circular letter which was considered to limit his movement.

"The regional regulation and circular letter limit the authority of the Deputy Governor. I have written to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the DPRD," he said.

Not only authority, Hellyana admitted that a number of supporting facilities for work were also revoked. He said he had to finance his own operational needs, including protocol facilities.

"Facilities to work are not provided. I have to finance it myself. The conditions are also made to be intimidating. ASN does not dare to come to the Deputy Governor's room, except for salary matters," he said.

Hellyana admitted that she was trying to fight for her rights and authority, but every step taken was considered to offend the Governor.

In addition to the alleged fake diploma case, Hellyana is also undergoing trial for alleged fraud worth Rp. 22 million related to hotel bills in Bangka Belitung.

"Until today I was in Bangka Belitung, we are also undergoing a trial. The trial, 22 million, the accusation of fraud," he said.

Meanwhile, Hellyana's lawyer, Andi Kusuma, explained that the case began with a report from a hotel manager named Adelia, who was also referred to as a close person and special staff of Hellyana. Adelia accused there was a delay in payment for hotel rooms from 2003-2004.

"In fact, the flow of funds from Ibu Hellyana to Adelia reached almost Rp. 200 million. In fact, there is an excess of funds, because Adelia also borrowed money of around Rp. 30 million. There has never been a report on the use of funds," said Andi.

Furthermore, Hellyana's other lawyer, Zainul Arifin, emphasized that his client was cooperative in the legal process of alleged use of a fake diploma. He asked the public to prioritize the principle of presumption of innocence.

"Hellyana's mother, in fact, did go to college and has a diploma. There is no evil intention. This suspicion is more about an administrative error in the PDDikti," said Zainul.

Zainul explained that when the 2024 Pilkada, Hellyana used a high school diploma, not a S1 diploma. All nomination documents have been verified by the KPU and have never been questioned before.

"The error occurred because the PDDikti data recorded 2013 and resigned in 2014, while the diploma was issued in 2012. This is purely an input error from the campus," he explained.

The lawyer also showed a number of evidence to the investigators, ranging from the original diploma, KRS, KHS, transcript of grades, SK Yudisium, to the graduation photo confirming that Hellyana had graduated from the Faculty of Law in 2012.

"He is a victim of individuals who use that power. Whether it is in the field of education or in the internal affairs of the National Police Headquarters. Therefore, it is important to carry out this further legal action," he concluded.
