Seven US Military Personnel Injured in Maduro Kidnapping Operation

JAKARTA - Seven US military personnel were injured during the operation to arrest Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

This information was reported by Fox News on Wednesday, January 7, citing an unnamed US official.

Five soldiers have returned to duty, while the other two are still in recovery, the report continued, as reported by ANTARA.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said all Americans injured during the operation in Venezuela were in good condition. However, the official number of injured victims and their conditions have not been disclosed.

Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were reportedly injured when they hit a wall or door as US security forces led them out of their residence, according to an NBC report citing sources familiar with the matter.

The injury occurred before Maduro and his wife made contact with the US Delta Special Forces. The TV station, citing a source, only reported that the two had bruises and bumps that were likely caused by hitting a door or wall.

The couple then underwent a medical examination on board the plane, another source said.

On January 3, the US launched a massive attack on Venezuela that led to the arrest of Maduro and his wife. The presidential couple was flown to New York to be tried under US law on charges of "narco-terrorism".

On Monday (5/1), the Supreme Court of Venezuela temporarily transferred the presidency to Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, who was then inaugurated in front of the National Assembly.
